Now let’s take a look at just a few tips that can help you manage this week:
It is OKAY to take alone time. Now say it with me, it is OKAY to take alone time. One more time? But seriously, it can feel as if you need to spend every waking moment with family members, especially if you don’t get to see them often. While that is lovely, it is still OKAY to take a few minutes or hours over the holiday weekend to reset and recharge. No guilt included.
Move your body. This is something I have only recently discovered and boy does it make a difference. A few minutes of yoga, jumping jacks, squats or punching the air (maybe visualizing a family member) will help the blood flow and give you some endorphins for the day.
BREATHE. Just breathe. Whatever that one question is you are dreading this year (When’s the wedding? Where are the kids? Have you even gone on a date this year? So what does your job really mean? Are you going to look for a new job?) just think of it as a comedy show, laugh it off because you know it’s going to happen, and BREATHE!
